The Eric Cooper Somatics Method:
Address your Hidden Root Holdings in Breathing and Movement
Release the Stuck Tension Patterns That Hold You in constriction, run your posture, and limit you in your life.
This workshop invites participants to explore the roots of their tension and stuckness through the lens of breathing. Returning from the U.S. to teach again in Ghent, Eric Cooper brings his unique and transformative Somatics method to guide participants in reclaiming ease and freedom in their bodies. Built upon your body’s natural breathing rhythm, this journey helps you discover the spaces where breathing comes easily—and reclaim the spaces your brain has forgotten or perceives as restricted.
Posture, whether hunched, scoliotic, swayback, or any other expression, reflects the places where you aren’t breathing. By addressing these hidden spaces, you can transform the very roots of your posture, gently teaching your body how to find ease and freedom.
Through slow, gentle, and carefully crafted movements, with crescendos and diminuendos of effort, you’ll learn to guide your nervous system out of its automatic background holdings and address the roots of your tension patterns. Whether you’re experienced in movement studies or new to Somatics, this workshop offers profound benefits. By combining gentle breathing and movement, you can transform how you feel, move, and hold yourself in life.
Each class stands alone, offering valuable insights and practical tools. Together, they form a cohesive journey to unlock easy breathing and create a profound sense of freedom in your body and mind.

Feedback from classes:
I heard that one of the students who:
“…went home singing on her bike because her body felt so good.”
A students in the workshop wrote:
“I enjoyed the weekend so much! You gave me a possible way out of my situation. I am hopeful again. Before I was getting desperate because nothing really worked. When you come back to Belgium I will be there again. You really inspired me in my own health and in my teaching.”
“I have been doing your movements (daily and several hours) and the dizziness is slowly getting better. Thank you for giving me my control and life back.”
“The yoga classes I have been taking are so intense and fast paced. It’s very nice to slow down and connect with your body, feeling the connections. [Sigh], This is a better pace.”
“I found something that’s been here all along, and yet I had to find it.”
“The following day my back was NOT stiff. Amazing!”
“I feel so much more embodied than when I arrived, more connected to my body. What was particularly special is that I feel so much more connected to my left side. Now, understanding how my left shoulder discomfort is not just my shoulder, it’s connected to my lower back, my hip, my leg, in ways I wasn’t even aware of day to day. That’s important, to reconnect to my left side.”
“I appreciated the reminder of Injury-Freeze, and the secondary effects of that. Each time, as you had us check-in [lying still and looking inward], I felt my body was more connected to the earth. How much more I felt. Everything felt like it was connecting.”
